Stephanie's Bio Page

Stephanie Buchanan received a degree in art at Texas A & M University and is a certified art teacher for Sulphur Springs Independent School District.  She grew up on a small ranch in the  rural town of Sulphur Springs, which is located 80 miles east of Dallas.  Riding horses and drawing were her favorite pastimes as a young girl.  She became interested in creating western bronzes as an adult after a trip to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado and the Prix de West in Oklahoma. Stephanie attended several workshops with well-known artists including Cowboy Artists of America.  She has shown in national juried shows and won the "Sculpture Award" for her piece titled "Taking the Lead".  When not teaching or sculpting, Stephanie enjoys riding and raising Paint horses.  She also spends much of her free time traveling the western United States studying Indian artifacts, and looking for inspiration for a new sculpture.  Her favorite subject, Native American Indians, was inspired from stories told of her great-great grandmother who was full-blood Cherokee Indian.
